A Granite Stone from the Summit of Mount Sinai

Rabbi Yaakov Emden, in his work Migdal Oz (Zitamar 220b), testifies to the miraculous nature of these stones:

    “The stones of Mount Sinai have on them an image of the sneh, which is why the mountain is called Sinai—because of the sneh where G-d revealed Himself to Moshe. I received one of these stones and saw the sneh in perfect detail. Even when I broke the stone into pieces, the image of the sneh appeared on every side. This is a Heavenly phenomenon.”

Similarly, the kabbalistic work Arvei Nachal (Parshat Shemot) highlights:

    “It is known that the image of the sneh appears on all the stones of Mount Sinai. This is a wondrous sign and a segula (spiritual charm) for the revelation of Torah.”
